History of English-language Theatre in Quebec, 1930-2015

This research program seeks to document and analyse the largely unrecorded history of English-language drama (plays) and theatre (production/performance/industry) in Québec from 1930 to 2015. Using methods of oral history, literary analysis, historical contextualisation, and performance-as-research, the program has resulted in scholarly articles, a story-map website, a relational database of original English-language plays by Quebec authors, two series of staged-readings of plays from the reserach corpus, and collaboration on and performance in a professional theatre production (Cyclorama, 2022). Current work focusses on writing a scholarly book recounting the history of this official minority-language practice; I aim to complete this by September 2026.
